Description: While the Bible is a timeless book (in the sense that it has an impact on every generation), the books of the Bible are also culture-bound (written for people in antiquity through a language and culture and literary conventions that they understood). Therefore, it is important to understand the nature of Old Testament historiography. In keeping with this broader context, the discussion of each book will focus primarily on three issues: historical background, literary analysis, and theological message.
