8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. A FLAMINGO BOOK. 13th PRINTING. 350 pages. Index, Glossary and illustrations. Bibliography. The second book by the Scottish historian, a descendant of Virginia Woolf, travel writer and the author of WHITE MUGHALS, IN XANADU and THE AGE OF KALI. First published in 1994. CITY OF DJINNS is a New Delhi travelogue--the end-result of his 6-year stay in that city. The book served as the basis for the play adaptation by Rahul Dasinnur Pulkeshi of Delhi-based Dreamtheatre. Dalrymple, incidentally, is played by Bollywood and stage actor Tom Alter, along with Zohra Segal who plays the role of Nora Nicholson--a British national who prefers to stays in India after it achieves Independence. A very good British copy in illustrated wrappers. The text is very clean and sound, mildly age-tanned. Light wear on its corners. No reading creases on its spine.
