Description:
The purpose of this book remains essentially the same as that of the first and second editions: to help teachers use computer technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the educational process. However, the application of computer technology in the schools has changed dramatically since the publication of the second edition. These changes, along with feedback from those who have adopted the book, have led to many significant revisions in this third edition. The basic framework of the book remains the same, however. We will continue to use the threefold taxonomy proposed by Taylor (1980) of tutor, tool, and tutee in order to provide some organization to the myriad of possible applications of computers in education. Each of these types of computer applications will be examined in terms of its relationship to specific learning outcomes.
