So starts the saga of Mud Pie Annie, a spunky little girl who, in addition to marvelous eclairs, made mud-pie casserole with remoulade sauce and pudding with whipped cream. Her menu stretched from Mexican and Italian to Russian and Greek.
Did her neighbors want to sample her concoctions? Did her parents understand? No. They said, "Our Ann could use a scrubbing -- she could use a good hot bath. / Let's bring her through the back door, / Or she'll make a muddy path".
But that's not the end of this delightful rhyming story with bright, colorful illustrations. Annie refused to be deterred by grown-ups who tried to rob her of her creativity by making negative comments. She knew that her delight in cooking with mud was a gift from God and so she was determined to use her gift "with all her might", regardless of what others around her said or did.
Children ages 4 to 8 will love this story in celebration of creativity. They can join in the fun by using the included recipes for making their own (edible) "mud-pie" dishes found on the perforated recipe cards at the back of the book.
