Description: A hotshot female F-14 pilot floats facedown in the dark, oily bilgewater of a U.S. supercarrier, dead from seven stab wounds. Meanwhile, an Oscar-class Russian submarine armed with long-range missiles silently patrols the waters to the north of the Navy battle group. Special Agent Bud Wilson of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) finds his murder investigation connected to the complicated cat-and-mouse game the Russian submarine is playing with the carrier. In the pressure-cooker environment of the Lincoln, Wilson teams up with Doctor Carol Benning, senior flight surgeon, and Airman Fernandez, a tough guy from the barrio, to find out who killed Gina Worthington and why routine Russian operations in the middle of the Pacific are escalating into confrontation. What he quickly discovers is that prime candidates for the murder are all officers: the Maintenance Officer, a fallen angel who washed out from flight training; Worthington's lover, a golden-boy pilot; Jazzman, the squadron Commanding Officer and rising Navy star; and Worthington's roommate, a cold, driven female pilot.
