But help is here! Snug as a Bug is a darling rhyming picture book for children ages 4 to 6 who think they'd rather sleep under a tree than in their own safe bed. In this story a mother uses humor and reverse psychology to woo her little boy into his own bed.
"Tonight would you like to sleep like a snail, / Slimy and snug in the garden pail? / Well, no, I don't think so. It wouldn't go well / Trying to curl myself into a shell.
"Perhaps then you'd rather sleep like a bear / Under the snow in a rocky lair, / Spending six long months in a cave with your brother / Trying not to bump into each other?"
As the mother goes on suggesting the bed of a shark, a parrot fish, a beaver, a fly, a frog, or a snake, the little boy decides his own bed sounds best,
"Tucked in so tight with a kiss and a hug, / God's own little child, just as snug as a bug".
At the end of the story, as in all our MOPS titles for kids, there's a special "Mom's Moment" just for moms, to uplift and encourage them in their special job of mothering.
