In a retelling of a story dated from 1450 in which the villagers of Gotham infuriate King John by objecting to him riding through there fields. He sends servants to the town who find the people doing all sorts of outlandish things in odd clothes. Thinking the people insane, they and their fields are left alone. Bright color illustrations and fine b&w line drawings by Carrick, who just passed away, was involved in TV and advertising as well as being an author & illustrator. Spine bottom shows light wear, corners a touch rubbed. OUT OF PRINT.
