Art Mackenzie (Mac), the protagonist of the Nephilim series, has been spirited away from his family and "imprisoned" in a secret underground interrogation room. When he's rescued, Mac learns disturbing news. His spiritual mentor has had a stroke and his former editor -- who was abducted by a UFO at the end of Nephilim -- has been found wandering among the ruins of Machu Picchu with burns on his body and in a constant state of fear. General Roswell, Mac's "deep throat" connection concerning the government and the hidden alien agenda, has died from cancer.

Worst of all, Mac discovers that a covert organization is claiming to have preserved the body of Jesus Christ in an ancient, high-tech tomb and intends to bring forth this body to "prove" that Jesus was simply a man empowered by aliens to work wonders. Mac and his allies have a daunting task: to prevent the public revealing of this fraudulent body of Christ, an event that would shake the foundations of Christianity and possibly throw the world into a headlong rush to the events of the last days.
