At 18, years old, Rhan, Van is a former video junkie embarking on a new game: adult life. The, death of his grandmother has forced Rhan to grow up fast and leave behind the introverted world of comic book heroes and video games. Rhan's main goal now is to get the training that will secure him a job and a future. He's been accepted at the renowned Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary and is determined to complete the challenging two-year media program so he can become a television camera man.

At school, he thrives, captivated by the boisterous students in his classes and the demanding pace of radio and television. For the first time, he works as part of a team. Rhan is also captivated by Jen, an exciting young woman he meets in his program.
