Brilliant Fred is a conservative in the cooperative state of New Dacota. Ted comes from a rural radical background. Victoria has a sexual liaison with Professor Cunningham which comes to a surprising conclusion. She becomes Head-of-State, with Rhoda as her assistant. Ted visits an area where types of societies are investigated, by computer modeling. New groups are the Obese people and the Cosmic people. The latter are part of a time-travel project. Ted is accidentally projected 100 years ahead.Some of the world leaders promote a 'limited' war. Victoria and the 'war attenuators' try to prevent this occurrence. Ted lands in a nation of obese people. They find records of history of the previous 100 years. The population of the world has droppedand regressed back into a pre-industrial era.
