Description: What Tales of the City was to San Francisco in the '70s, "The California Book of The Dead" is to the city in the '90s. In a tour de force of romantic comedy, Farrington portrays the lives of a dazzling cast of characters as they grapple with love and liberation, substance, and soul. There's Marlowe, the moody artist, Daa, her devoted lover, Jack, their housemate, the spacey masseur with magic hands...to name just a few of the eclectic personalities so vividly drawn that when they meet we feel the forces of the emotional universe collide. This is a book for everyone who's ever been captivated by life, love, and San Francisco.
