But her arrival in Henryville brings surprises. First, there's the handsome captain of the football team. And there's the drama teacher, a former New York actor. And her new orchestra -- with a remarkable violin player by the name of Daniel Goodman.

There's one more surprise -- Johnny McGraw -- co-captain of the football team and one of the most popular boys in the school. Only one problem: he hates Jews and he voices his prejudices to anyone who will listen.
