Born the Son of Immigrants, Benjamin Graham grew up in New York, where he went to public schools and to Columbia University. He is credited with the invention of security analysis and value investing, and cofounded the Graham-Newman Corporation, where he was president for many years. His stature on Wall Street led him to acquaintances with FDR, Churchill, Eisenhower, and Baruch. He taught at UCLA and Columbia, where he was Warren Buffett's mentor.
His timeless The Interpretation of Financial Statements, first published by Harper & Brothers in 1937, is a comprehensive guide to reading and understanding financial documents, such as balance sheets and profit and loss statements. Highly practical and accessible, it is an essential guide for businessmen, bankers, and investors -- and it makes the perfect companion volume to Graham's classic business bestseller Intelligent Investor.
