Cuba's best-known contemporary painter, Flavio Garciandia was a major player in the rebirth of artistic expression in Cuba in the late 1970s and 1980s as a member of "los ochenta", a group of artists including Arturo Cuenca, Marta Maria Perez Bravo, and Jose Bedia, who were instrumental in generating a new era of artistic expression in Cuba that led to the founding of the Havana Biennale in 1984.

This catalogue includes reproductions of 24 recent paintings and installation works on loan to the Museum of Fine Arts (Museum of New Mexico) by the artist in collaboration with the Ramis Barquet Gallery (Monterrey, Mexico).
