Description: Excerpt from As to Polo This little book was first written in very busy days in the Philippine Islands and sent out with a good deal of hesitation, as the author was in doubt as to the correctness of many of his conclusions and as to the reception that such a book would receive. It has been received so cordially that this fourth edition is now complete and is offered to polo players. The first edition contained many errors and was shortly replaced by a second, the supply of which was exhausted late in 1918. During the war no effort was made to print a third edition and a few remaining copies of the first were used to supply the unexpected large demand this winter and spring. The third edition contains a small amount of new matter, numerous corrections, some additional comment, and one additional diagram. The chapter on rules is mostly new. Although out of date for this edition, the introduction has been left, except for certain verbal changes, as written for the earlier editions. The author thought at first of calling the book A Polo Primer, as an indication that it was intended only for beginners, but it seems to have meta fairly general demand and is, I believe, in use by army players and members of several of the newer polo clubs.
