When Bernard Berenson died in 1959, his will bequeathed the house, its contents, and the gardens to Harvard University, as a Center for Ranaissance Studies. This book documents and describes the intellectual atmosphere they fostered there, and the spirit that continues, strengthened by the Harvard Center
The lush illustrations include new color photographs of the Villa I Tatti, its grounds, and its superb art collection, comprising works by such Renaissance artists as Giotto, Venezian, and Lorenzo Lotto, among others. Black-and-white archival images of the Berensons and their friends are also featured.
