Description:
This book is designed to teach programmers and systems administrators to understand and control the factors that affect the performance of their AIX compatible system. AIX is IBM's version of the UNIX operating system which is frequently used to run servers and networks often on IBM RS/6000 line of mini-computers (but also on Motorola, Apple and Bull systems too). Just as a networks performance can degrade as the amount of connections and/or traffic volume increases so can the performance of an operating system degrade as more is demanded of it without proper configuration and 'tuning'. In order to enhance performance, one can either buy faster and more powerful hardware (an expensive solution) or learn the techniques to get more out of your existing system. This book shows AIX application programmers and AIX system administrators how to maximize system performance.
