Toby Chase accepts the way he and his mother live. Every few months they pack up, move to a new city, and take new names. Now that they're living in a small town in Idaho, though, things seem different -- his mother finally may be willing to call Donner "home". That is, until Toby inadvertently finds out about his mother's past while researching a school report on the Vietnam War: She is a fugitive, wanted by the FBI in connection with a plot to blow up an empty ROTC office as an antiwar protest. If Toby found the information, others can. Will he and his mother ever be able to leave the past behind?
