Not wishing to stop/ His chirping the whole night long, /Cricket never does.
This is one of the sixty-seven haiku and tanka gathered here -- Japanese forms of verse that offer a delightful way to express thoughts and feelings about the world around us. Divided into four sections, one for each season of the year, Myra Cohn Livingston offers a rich selection of her own work. Sensitive and evocative, these verses entice the reader. They will also tempt young readers to begin to write down their own thoughts and feelings. This is a book to return to again and again.
