Description: In light of experiments in the foundations of quantum physics over the past few years, philosophers of science ponder the interpretive and epistemological consequences of the field in 17 full lectures, 13 short presentations, three reports, and six reviews, apparently from a symposium, presumably in Vienna, perhaps in the fall of 1998. The topics include measurement and informational collapse into the past, repeaters for quantum communication, the complementarily of fringe visibilities in three-particle quantum mechanics, Fermi inhibition in inhomogeneous atomic gases, a bell experiment under strict Einstein locality conditions, and the short-coming of the TV-screen in cultural communication. The collection could be the basis of a seminar on theoretical and experimental physics or the philosophy of science.
