A year later, Jimmy has just returned from a ten-month absence he'd rather not explain, and the Eggman fiasco is a bad memory. But when he discovers crime-scene photographs of the six people the Eggman claimed to have killed -- the case comes back to life in a disturbing new way: Jimmy finds the pictures among his brother Jonathan's possessions. Is it morbid prurience on Jonathan's part? Or something else? That the photographs suddenly disappear doesn't help Jimmy answer these questions.

And complicating matters further is the fact of Jonathan's wife -- Olivia was the woman Jimmy left behind ten months before -- and the long-standing, bitter rivalry between the brothers. There is also the wild cast of almost delightfully depraved characters who inhabit Jimmy's world: Great White, a huge thug with a penchant for drawing; Pilar, a diminutive but fearsome latina; Rollo, the "baby-faced Braniac, " and Macklen, the neighborhood's supreme nasty -- his wheelchair no handicap -- from whom Jimmy and Rollo have recently, stupidly, stolen valuable computer chips. Not to mention the growing attraction between Jimmy and Jane.

But Jimmy is driven to discover the identity of the serial killer no matter where the search takes him -- physically, emotionally orpsychologically -- and no one benefits more from his obsession than the reader of this high-geared, unstoppable, and unstoppably entertaining novel.
