How to Read a Christian Book: a Guide to Selecting and Reading Christian Books as a Christian Discipline

After making a biblical case for the importance of reading Christian books, the author presents some practical tools for choosing books and offers valuable guidelines for judging the quality of the content. We are encouraged to be in constant dialogue with the text, asking if it is true to Scripture, if it contributes to Christian maturity, and if it is useful for the intended purpose of the reader. He also encourages us to see the reading of Christian books as a spiritual discipline and to consider if we are reading for information, inspiration, instruction, integration, and, oh yes, delight.
The second half of the book provides a formula for planning a personal library, and with the help of some top-notch Christian thinkers, McKenna offers a three-year reading plan. I found myself working diligently through the selection of titles. Many of these titles are in my personal library, but many more need to be read. And some of the ones I've read in years past need to be dusted off and read again.
If you are a book lover, you will love this book.
