Description:
In the Fall of 1985, I completed a mapping program for the Apple Macintosh computer, a computer first released only 18 months earlier. The program produced choropleth maps, a type of map that uses shadings to depict data values for areas such as states or counties. It placed the map in the memory of the computer as individual polygon 'objects' based on a file of x, y coordinates. Because the map resided in memory, it could be quickly updated with new shadings to depict another variable or another method of data classification.
