Description:
This volume charts the development of the doctrine of Justification from its earliest period to the eve of the Reformation. Subsequent to the outline of the doctrine's early development, with particular reference to St Augustine, Dr McGrath considers nine prominent features of its further development in the period 400-1500. In a later chapter he establishes the chief features of the doctrines of justification associated with the five principal medieval schools of the period, and finishes the book with a discussion of the continuity between the later medieval period and the Reformation.
