To Lewis, that great miracle was the Incarnation. God became man. "Every other miracle prepares for this, or exhibits this, or results from this". Lewis goes on to show that a Christian must not only accept but also rejoice in miracles as a testimony to the unique personal involvement of God in his creation.
Some people might object that, since they have never seen a miracle, nothing beyond the natural exists. Lewis responds that by definition, unusual events are rare occurrences.
Using his characteristic lucidity and wit to develop his argument, Lewis challenges the rationalists, agnostics, and deists on their own grounds and makes an impressive case for the irrationality of their assumptions and the solid logic of accepting the existence of divine intervention.
