Description:
For six years the New York Public Library has sponsored Poetry-in-the-Branches, an innovative workshop program that brings teen writers together with published adult poets to help the teens develop their own poetic voices. Here now are some of the best works to come from these workshops, and the themes are as diverse as the backgrounds of the writers themselves. Poems about identity and self-image share space with pieces about sports, work, the future, mourning, and fun. Graced with black-and-white spot art by Chris Rachska, these poems speak frankly "teen to teen".
