Description:
MS is a disease of the central nervous system. As a result, people with MS may experience facial pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, relentless generalized pain and achiness, difficulty with balance and coordination, lack of bladder and bowel control, slurred speech, blurred or double vision, dizziness, blind spots, and temporary blindness. They may have difficulty walking, getting up from a sitting position, or performing routine tasks with their hands or fingers. In many cases, these symptoms occur sporadically and without warning. Although researchers do not fully understand the disease, most believe that the body's own immune system is responsible for the nerve damage. The disease may be triggered by a virus or bacteria, and some people may have a genetic predisposition for developing it. There is no cure for multiple sclerosis, but doctors can prescribe medications to relieve many of the symptoms.
