Nora flees to Ireland, back to the village where she once knew who she was and what she wanted. Her plan: to walk down the old streets and across the open green fields where she will decide how her life is to proceed.

Because she is considering an abortion she goes almost immediately to Northern Ireland -- to the small town of Omagh . While she is at the clinic there a bomb -- the worst in the history of the Irish troubles -- explodes. Nora gives comfort to a wounded British soldier. What begins as an innocent gesture toward someone in need spirals out of control. And suddenly she is on the run, in the middle of someone else's nightmare -- her life, upended, his life in her hands.
