Description: The number of keyboard arrangements that Joseph Haydn made from his own works cannot be precisely determined. This edition includes arrangements which can be authenticated as being by Haydn (Allegretto in G, Hob, XVII:10; Variations on Gott erhalte; 12 Minuets, Hob IX:3; 12 Deutche, Hob IX:12; March in C, Hob. VIII:2, and No. 10 from the Ten Short Pieces) plus those which are in all probability by the composer (12 Minuets Hob. IX:8; 12 Minuets Hob. IX:11; March in E-flat Hob. VIII:1; along with the remainder of the 10 Short Pieces). Also included are keyboard arrangments of Haydn's works which are probably by another arranger: March in E-flat Hob. VIII:3/3b; 18 Menuetti + Aria Hob IX:20 and VXII: F1, and the Minuets. Independently of who made the arrangement, the criteria governing an Urtext edition remain in force for this volume.
