Description: Fascinated by fire his whole life, Jed has even gone as far as starting "practice" fires to study how they act. He has a vested interest -- his father is the town's volunteer fire chief. But that didn't help his reputation when one of his practice fires burned down the family's garage. Now, a year later, there has been a rash of suspicious fires around town and Jed's name keeps coming up in conversations about them. When his dad is seriously injured in one of the fires and Jed faces more accusing looks, he decides to find out for himself who is really to blame. He and his friends do some investigating, but before they find any solid answers a huge blaze threatens the entire town. It's Jed's knowledge and experience that save the town, and everyone realizes that his obsession wasn't that bizarre after all.
