At the height of his art career, tormented Morton Fisk sealed himself in the basement, in nothing but torn briefs, to sculpt the enigmatic Men with Chainsaws figurines. Now Morton is gone, dead of dehydration in the family bathtub, and his daughter, Frances, is honoring his memory by seeking her own artistic muse.
Then out of the blue, Frances's mother, Arlene, announces her plans to marry Stan "The Kingpin" Boardman, owner of three bowling alleys. "Before bowling my life was nothing but art, " explains Arlene plaintively. Soon Frances is ensconced in the life of the middle class, far from the art world and the dementia that claimed her father. Her days are filled with bowling balls, polyurethane floors, and pizza -- until she visits the aquarium and witnesses two walruses in the heat of mating. Frances has found her inspiration!
