Description: High-stakes standardized tests are a bigger part of public education in the state of Texas than perhaps anywhere else in the country. Terms like EOC (End-of-Course) and TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) are household names and testing begins as early as the fourth grade. Not only is the pressure on students, but also on teachers and school administration. School accreditation is based partly on satisfactory exam scores and, like it or not, teachers devote significant amounts of class time to preparing students for specifically for these exams.

To earn a high school diploma in Texas, students must either pass all three of the TAAS Exit-Level exams, or pass three out of the four End-of-Course (EOC) exams: Algebra I, English II, and either U.S. History or Biology. In most schools, a student's EOC exam score also counts for 10% of the final grade for that course.

Up to this point, students have had no way to study for their EOC exams other than textbooks. And since the passing rate on the U.S. History exam has been poor in recent years, they clearly need help. The Princeton Review has already helped thousands students in New York and California with their statewide tests and is the most-trusted name in SAT preparation. The brand new Cracking the Texas EOC U.S. History includes:
-- A review of the most important subject matter to know for the test. We've analyzed several years of EOC exams to better direct students on how to spend their study time.
-- Two full-length sample tests with questions just like the ones on the official exam. Students will know exactly what to expect on test day.
-- The Princeton Review's renowned score-raising techniques that help studentsthink like the test-writers.
-- Complete answer explanations to all test questions that help students reinforce what they've learned.
-- The first four titles in this series are: Cracking the Texas End-of Course Algebra I, Cracking the Texas End-of Course English II, Cracking the Texas End-of-Course Biology, and Cracking the Texas End-of-Course History.
