Description:
When The Real Thing opened on Broadway in 1984, it was acclaimed as "the realest thing the brilliant Mr. Stoppard has ever given us" (The New York Post). In covering the twists and turns that life and love inflict on Henry, an intellectual playwright with an unfathomable (and embarrassing) love for 1960s rock music; Annie, his free-spirited second wife who is an actress turned political activist; and Max and Charlotte, their earlier mates, Tom Stoppard writes with an intimacy and sweetness that has not usually characterized his always challenging plays.
