Description:
Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) is one of the bestloved French Impressionists. During his long and highly productive career, he created works ranging in subject matter from scenes of modern life to portraiture, nudes, landscape, and still life. An ardent draftsman, Renoir executed many studies and finished drawings, as well as watercolors, etchings, lithographs, and works in other print mediums. The Art Institute of Chicago owns works representing every aspect of Renoir's output, including such masterpieces as Jugglers at the Circus Fernando, The Rowers' Lunch, and Two Sisters (On the Terrace).
