Description:
The D-Day landings in Normandy marked the beginning of Germany's defeat in the West. Accomplished military historian Samuel W. Mitcham, Jr. recaptures the spirit of the Wehrmacht in 1944 as the thin gray line finally snapped and survivors fled back to the Reich. The Allies would capture the port of Cherbourg, their first strategic objective, only to find it reduced to rubble after the best-planned demolition in history. While finally bringing the Allied juggernaut to a halt on the borders of the Reich itself, this fleeting German success would only delay the inevitable showdown.
