Whether he is commenting on the oldest known fishing book in existence (and who might have written it); musing on the quest for natural-looking flies versus the appeal of the royal coachman fly pattern; or documenting the captivating, philosophical, and often humorous stories of fellow fishermen past and present, Schullery interweaves historical analysis and anecdotes to raise interesting questions about the culture of fly-fishing. According to the Los Angeles Times Book Review, "Schullery is a natural storyteller... a keen raconteur" who is sure to hook readers as interest in this compelling sport grows.
