In tracing the life of the first women appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, we learn of her early years in Arizona, where by eight she learned to mend fences and shoot jackrabbits. She was always capable, learning to read when she was only four. Her first job in law was as a deputy district attorney. She had a real family life, too, raising three sons. As a state senator, then a county superior court judge, and finally as a justice on the state court of appeals, Sandra Day O'Connor had a great deal to offer our highest court.
