Description: Since 1960, sub-Saharan nations have been committed to providing every child with at least a primary school education, and have also focused on facilitating each child's development of literacy and numeracy, knowledge of the cultural heritage, and thinking skills. This book addresses issues and African objectives for mass education, funding, inequities in access, curriculum, instructional methodology, and research needs and efforts. These issues are pursued through intensive examinations of the education system and the curriculum found in the region, and are placed within the context of the past and the future.
