Description:
While preparing for Christmas, two interesting developments appear in Kate Mulcay's life. Shag and Warty, and their friendly dog, Foodstamp, are homeless friends of Kate who frequent the alleys around her Atlanta newspaper. To Kate's delight, Miss Iris Moon, an eccentric single woman of Atlanta society, has offered to take them in for the holidays. As if this weren't enough to bring Kate holiday cheer, St. Margaret's Episcopal church has hired an attractive new preacher who seems to be wholly smitten by Kate. It's been years since her beloved husband passed away, and she can't help but feel a comfortable desire for Reverend Jonathon Craven.

Kate's bliss is interrupted, however, when she receives an urgent call that Miss Moon has been slain in her mansion, by suspects unknown. Knowing Shag and Warty are incapable of killing, Kate must find the truth -- quickly -- and soon uncovers a memorable coterie, several of whom may have had motive for murder.
