Signed by the Author SIGNED-Octavo. Black boards quarterbound in a black cloth backstrip with shiny gilt lettering on the spine. Book has a light bumping at the head and tail of the spine. White endpapers. Small missing chip in the upper edge of the front endpaper-looks like production error-about 1/2" long and 1/2" deep. Signed, inscribed, and dated by the author on the half title page in black pen: "For----/ All best wishes / for your work / Marilynne Robinson / Saratoga Springs / 2000." Binding is straight and tight. Pages are all clean, white, and crisp. 254 pages. Dust Jacket-has a nearly unnoticable trace of rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and light rubbing at the tips of the two upper outside corners-jacket otherwise clean, bright, and sharp. Not a terribly common first, particularly with the author's signature.
