Description: "Ursula is the essence of iron cloaked in velvet -- a heroine to reckon with, wrote Kirkus Reviews of the protagonist of To Shield the Queen. "Ursula is audacious, intensely loyal, and beguiling, " said Publishers Weekly.

In The Doublet Affair, Ursula, a Lady of Queen Elizabeth Is Court, undertakes an urgent commission for the Queen and Secretary of State. Posing as companion to the young children of Ann and Leonard Mason, Ursula is to infiltrate the Masons estate and find out if the couple is scheming against the Queen. But before she can carry out her mission, Ursula is kidnapped. One -man who spied for the Queen is dead. Ursula, who put her life in danger to serve her Queen, realizes she is a pawn in a brutal game of skill and cunning in which the ultimate prize may be the very life of the Queen of England. The Doublet Affair is historical mystery fiction at its best -- a winning combination of historic authenticity, appealing characters, and page-turning suspense.
