Nischala realized the purpose of her quest when her service as a monk took her to a holistic center. There she was able to use the practices of yoga in a therapeutic setting. The experience showed her the endless possibilities of yoga practices in clearing the body and mind of blockages and disease, allowing healing to occur. When she met Dean Ornish as a young medical resident, he was already incorporating yoga practices to alleviate pain and symptoms from debilitating disease. He enjoined her to develop the yoga aspect of his research and ultimately collaborate on his groundbreaking study, The Lifestyle Heart Trial, which proved that a yoga-based program could, in fact, reverse heart disease.
This life-changing event was the catalyst for what would become Nischala's life work. "The Healing Path of Yoga" presents Nischala's life principles in a passionate and clear voice, enabling readers to adopt these practices into their own lives. Nischala guides the reader through a series of steps and instructions, from visualizations to breathwork, meditation to physical poses. These techniques lead the reader to a greater awareness of comfort in their own bodies, necessary steps in bringing the life-affirming discipline of Yoga to its greatest level of fulfillment.
