Description: Millions of American children grow up without the support and guidance of adults. The 100 Black Men of America, Inc., has addressed this problem through their "Miracles of Mentoring" program, which has aided millions of individuals annually, positively affecting families, communities, and the nation. Based on experiences from this program, "The Miracles of Mentoring" offers advice on one of the most effective ways volunteers can affect young lives.

This resource of essential wisdom comes directly from the experiences of The 100 Black Men of America, Inc., primed to be the premier mentoring organization in the United States. It counts among its supporters an impressive array of corporations, including AT&T, Coca-Cola, Merrill Lynch, MCI, Anheuser-Busch, Burger King, TicketMaster, Kraft Foods, the National Urban League, and several government agencies. And it is in the midst of a $12.7 million campaign, cochaired by executives from Paine Webber, Nike, UPS, and General Motors, that will include the establishment of a National Mentoring and Leadership Institute.

"The Miracles of Mentoring" addresses everything from building relationships with young people, to developing successful programs in schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces, to establishing partnerships with businesses, corporations, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. While imparting these lessons, the book never loses sight of mentoring's purpose: "When you give of your time, experience, and wisdom to a young person, you're sowing the seeds of pride, confidence, and accomplishment" (Thomas Dortch, Jr., from the Introduction).
