Description:
The Muse Asylum is the story of three recent Princeton graduates whose lives come to revolve around the identity of the reclusive master of the modern novel, Horace Jacob Little. Jake Burnett, who narrates most of the story, is a reporter for a small Manhattan weekly, trying to make a name for himself by unmasking the writer. Jake's ex-lover, Lara Knowles, is being terrorized by Andrew Wallace, a troubled classmate, who is a patient at Overlook Psychiatric Institute, a haven for artists with mental illness, known as the Muse Asylum. Andrew is obsessed with Horace Jacob Little, and believes he has found a clue to the author's true identity. After Jake tracks down and interviews Horace Jacob Little, he visits Andrew and inadvertently sets his troubled classmate onto the trail of the author. Andrew spirals deeper into madness and Jake must find Andrew and return him to the Muse Asylum before harm befalls Horace Jacob Little. And only then does Jake discover the secret underlying the author's success, and the lengths to which Horace Jacob Little will go to protect it.
