Description:
"The Weight of Glory", the first of nine encouraging and enlightening addresses in this volume of sermons given by C. S. Lewis during World War II, examines the difference between unselfishness and love. Lewis shows that self-denial -- the suppression of our desires -- is not a virtue in itself, but rather a weak substitute for entering into the powerful splendor of God's glory. He concludes that each "mere mortal" is actually an immortal, destined for either glory or horror, and we should treat one another with the significance that implies.
