Description: A real page-turner is about a young Yankee woman, Jenina, who is forced to leave the Florida town where she had lived with her smuggler husband. The people of the town are sure he had hidden a great treasure in his home. She flees trying to return up north, but is caught by some renegades. They bring her to the deep Everglades to a strange compound. There, she is forced to submit to the leader to bear him an infant girl who is to be the reincarnation of his great grandmother, Marie Laveau. This child will give him the needed authority to rule the voodoo runaways of the camp. Jenina meets a former woman of the leader who must escape.
