Description: This wide-awake collection of 34 poems reveals the essential personalities of the household objects that surround us. When the sun rises in the opening poems, its light wakes up the objects that fill a toddler's day -- a chilly bathroom floor in the morning "waits to greet/two sleepy feet, " a vacuum cleaner in the afternoon "Roars over carpets/ zig zag zips/sucking up fuzz/through metal lips, " a rocking chair in the evening: "Rocker, rocker/dear old soul/rock, rock, rock/but do not roll!" and a night-ligh at bedtime "Gladly glows/because he knows/he makes things safe/for eyes to close." With vivid three-dimensional artwork, Wake Up House! is as much fun to look at as it is to listen to and is sure to be a favorite for sharing -- morning, noon, and night.
