Description:
1844--Belle Bradbury, a thirty three year old widow and her two grown daughters, Iris and Heather, brave the Horn to arrive in Yerba Buena (San Francisco), a Mexican hamlet. Johnny Bradbury (the girls' uncle), now Don Juan Ricardo, introduces them to the resplendent life and love of family afforded him upon marrying a daughter of the country. The California Missions have been secularized. The Mission Indians are scattered. Walk In Love also relates the poignant story of Miguel Pedro, an Ohlone Indian and his beautiful blue-eyeddaughter, Estrellita. The women experience love and passion in a California that has little constraint on their provincial New England lifestyle. There is romance, adventure and a thread of mystery that alters all their lives.
