Twenty-two books are planned for the start of the series in spring of 2002. Each book in the Presidents series explores the life and political career of an American president. The text begins with an important event in the president's life, and then recounts the story of one who has held our nation's highest office. These full-color books include portraits, Internet screen captures, and if applicable, images of important documents.

In William McKinley, another book in the Presidents series, author Stephen Feinstein uncovers the life of the twenty-fifth president of the United States. McKinley managed to serve as a soldier for the Union Army for four years without receiving a single wound or becoming ill. Due to his Civil War experiences McKinley wished to avoid war at all costs during his presidency. To his dismay, war with Spain became inevitable, and the Spanish-American War began. As a result of the war, the United States gained colonies and for the first time was looked upon as a world power.
