Description:
Writers at Work is a high-beginning/low-intermediate text aimed at preparing ESL students to write academic English. The book begins with an introductory section which teaches the writing process. Ten chapters follow, focusing on paragraph writing for the first eight chapters and moving on to simple multi-paragraph writing for the last two. Each chapter is composed of five parts, following the process of writing: get ideas; organize ideas; write; revise; and edit. Chapters are thematic, with titles such as, "A Scary or Funny Experience", "The Ideal Spouse", and "Holidays". The book encourages student interaction through small group work and peer revisions. "Quick Check", an editing reference closes the book. It is a short grammar reference dealing with the most common basic writing errors.
